This Is You Portraits
You deserve to be seen as yourself.
Portrait photography for identity, transformation, self-expression, and the parts of ourselves that are often difficult to put into words. These collaborative sessions are designed for people exploring gender expression, reclaiming their bodies after medical change, embodying meaningful characters or archetypes, or simply documenting themselves as they are right now.
Whether your vision is quiet and intimate, theatrical and imaginative, or somewhere in between, these portraits are created with care, collaboration, and respect for who you are.
Some portraits are about appearances.
These are about recognition.
“This Is You” portrait sessions are collaborative, slower-paced photography experiences centered around identity, confidence, storytelling, and processing change. For some people, that may mean gender affirming portraits. For others, it may mean documenting scars, survivorship, transition, transformation, aging, self-discovery, or connection to a character or archetype that reflects something deeply personal.
Not every session needs a grand explanation. Sometimes the reason is simply:
“This feels like me.”
Portraits for Identity, Expression, and Transformation
These sessions are intentionally flexible because identity itself is rarely neat or singular. Together, we create portraits that feel authentic to you, your story, and how you want to be seen.
Gender Affirming Portraits
Portrait sessions created in collaboration with trans, nonbinary, gender diverse, and gender exploring clients. These sessions prioritize comfort, agency, self-expression, and creating images that feel affirming and authentic.
There is no expectation to perform masculinity, femininity, or identity in any specific way. The goal is not perfection. The goal is recognition.
Medical Reclamation Portraits
Bodies change. Sometimes gradually, sometimes suddenly.
These sessions may include portraits connected to cancer recovery, reconstructive surgery, disability, chronic illness, scars, physical transition, weight change, or other life-altering experiences. The focus is not clinical documentation, but artistic portraiture centered around identity, presence, and self-reclamation.
Clients are always encouraged to move at their own pace, both emotionally and creatively.
Character, Cosplay, and Archetype Portraits
Some people connect most deeply with themselves through story, symbolism, fantasy, or performance.
Whether inspired by original characters, mythology, fashion, archetypes, literary influences, or cosplay, these portraits blend fine art photography with character-driven visual storytelling. Sessions can range from subtle and atmospheric to fully styled and cinematic.
No convention-stage energy required. This work is about embodiment, creativity, and connection.
Portraits Just Because
Not every portrait needs to carry the weight of transformation.
Sometimes you simply want photographs that feel honest, beautiful, expressive, strange, soft, bold, or fully yours. That is reason enough.
A Collaborative Process
These sessions are designed to move more slowly and intentionally than traditional portrait photography.
Before booking, we begin with a conversation about your ideas, comfort level, inspiration, concerns, and goals for the session. Together, we can discuss styling, wardrobe, locations, references, symbolism, mood, accessibility needs, and pacing.
You do not need modeling experience.
You do not need to know how to pose.
You do not need to arrive with everything figured out.
The process is collaborative from beginning to end.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are identity affirming portraits?
Identity affirming portraits are collaborative portrait sessions designed to support how someone wants to see and represent themselves. These sessions often center around self-expression, confidence, transformation, storytelling, or recognition.
Are these sessions LGBTQ+ inclusive?
Yes. These sessions are intentionally inclusive of trans, nonbinary, queer, and gender diverse clients.
Do I need cosplay experience for character-inspired portraits?
Not at all. Some clients arrive with elaborate costumes and concepts, while others bring only an idea, mood, or inspiration. Both approaches are welcome.
Are these sessions therapy?
No. These portrait sessions are artistic and collaborative experiences, not therapy or medical treatment. However, many clients find creative self-expression and affirming imagery emotionally meaningful.
Can scars, mobility aids, or medical changes be included in portraits?
Yes, if you would like them to be. Every session is collaborative, and clients have full agency over how they want themselves and their bodies represented.
I’m nervous about being photographed. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Most people are. Sessions are intentionally collaborative and slower-paced to help clients feel comfortable, grounded, and supported throughout the process.
